3. How can you teach students the skills they need to perform higher-order thinking when they create projects? What types of questions, prompts, and scaffolds can you use to encourage students to think deeply and to not just find copy-and-paste answer.


  • Always ask "why", "how do you know"
  • Ask CRISS strategies (open ended questions)
  • Giving students a chance to debate with each other.
  • Asking inference type questions
  • Asking students to always make predictions
  • Depending on the level and assignment not letting the students have the material right in front of them
  • In the lower grades, have students draw a picture
  • Using graphic organizers
  • Having students make connections to their life
